This is THE basic Bogen (Manfrotto) tripod, the modern incarnation of the tripod that has been supporting birders, and their spotting scopes, for over 20 years. Rugged, sturdy, simple, dependable and light enough for all but people of slight frame, it features the smooth dropping and fast retracting Manfrotto leg system with external twist knobs that loosen and tighten quickly, easily, and dependably.
This is a full sized tripod; with legs fully extended and center bar raised even birders in the six-and-a-half foot plus class can use it with stand up straight ease. In windy conditions, the legs can be hyper-spread for ground-hugging stability.
We recommend the simple, smooth panning 128RC2 (formerly 3130) head with this model. If you are slight of frame you may want to consider the lighter weight version, the 190 XDB or perhaps one of the following models.
